README.txt -------------------------- METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION -------------------------- 1. Description of methods used for collection/generation of data: We collected aerial images of Mallows Bay, MD from two aerial surveys using unmanned aerial systems (UAS) on 09/20/2016. The first survey was regional and used the senseFly eBee, a fixed-wing UAS, equipped with a belly-mounted Canon Powershot S110 12-megapixel digital optical camera. The second survey was at a smaller scale over the Benzonia wreck and used the CineStar 6 equipped with a gimbal-mounted Olympus E-PM2 16-megapizel digital optical camera. Lastly, wreck profile videos were obtained using the 3DR Solo, a small quadcopter. 2. Methods for processing the data: Images were processed into orthomosaics (for both surveys) using a "structure from motion" photogrammetry approach with Pix4D desktop software. Digitization of hull outlines was guided by using the regional orthomosaic at a 1:500 map scale. The attribute table of the final shapefile was populated with ship-specific information. 3. Software- or Instrument-specific information needed to interpret the data, including software version numbers, packages or other dependencies: Pix4DMapper (v.3.2.10); Pix4DMapper (v.2.2.25); ArcGIS Pro (v.2.0) 4.
