Data for manuscript: Short-term fire frequency manipulation alters community and population responses to subsequent fires in a Southeastern pine savanna

Data were collected between 2008 and 2018 in a longleaf pine/wiregrass savanna located on Fort Liberty, NC, USA. Four datasets are provided:

1. Cover_2011-2017.xlsx - annual community composition survey data ranging from 2011 to 2017. Each row represents a m^2 plot, and each column with a six-letter code represents a species.
	CoverSet - E or L (early or late) appended to the year of data collection
	Year - year of data collection
	CoverDate - date of data collection
	Site - research site identifier
	Plot - plot number within each site (1 = upland; 2 = ecotone; 3+ = lowland)
	ACAGRA - ZIGGLA: 6-letter species codes - cells contain that species' cover in each plot



2. Burn-data_2008-2018.xlsx - dates of prescribed burns occurring at each site, ranging from 2008 to 2018.
	Plot - unique identifier for each plot (Site number appended with plot number)
	Date - date of burn
	Year - year of burn
	Month - month of burn
	Day - day of burn within month
	Yday - day of the calendar year of burn



3. PlotCovariates.xlsx - environmental data (average soil moisture, average soil temperature, average bulk density) collected between 2011 and 2013 that accompany each plot.
	Site - unique identifier for each plot (Site number appended with plot number)
	SiteN - site number
	PlotN - plot number
	FireTreatment - fire treatment in experimental burn period (2011-2014)
	Elevation - elevation (meters above stream)
	SiteBurnPre11 - date of last burn prior to 2011
	AvgBulkDensity - plot-average bulk density (soil dry weight/volume)
	AvgSoilH2O11 - plot-average soil moisture in 2011
	AvgSoilH2O12 - plot-average soil moisture in 2012
	AvgSoilH2O13 - plot-average soil moisture in 2013
	AvgSoilTemp13 - plot-average soil temperature in 2013
	AvgBurnTemp12 - plot-average soil moisture in 2012
	AvgBurnTemp13 - plot-average soil moisture in 2013



4. CombinedTraits_SummaryStats.xlsx - species-average leaf/growth trait data collected in 2012. Data include specific leaf area (SLA), leaf dry matter content (LDMC) and average height.
