README for Near Infrared flights in 2017 DESCRIPTION This folder is a consolidation of all Near Infrared (NIR) images captured and products processed for the five flights conducted in 2017. The 2017 flights are centered on two areas that were also flown in 2016 (Cucumella and Vulci North); the imagery overlaps and expands on the spatial coverage of both of these areas. An average GSD of 2.8 cm was captured for the 2017 surveys. The Near Infrared Data (2017) folder and subfolder contents are as follows: > Cucumella NIR Geolocated Images > Two flights from two survey days in 2017. There were 869 total images captured for the Cucumella area in 2017 (latitude, longitude and altitude can be found in image metadata as well as in the geoinfo text files in the Daily Flights folders) > Vulci North NIR Geolocated Images > Three flights from two survey days in 2017. There were 859 total images captured for the Northern portion of Vulci area in 2017 (latitude, longitude and altitude can be found in image metadata as well as in the geoinfo text files in the Daily Flights folders) > Cucumella and North Vulci NIR Processed Products (folders for both areas contain same product types) > 1_initial: contains the Pix4D quality report (.pdf), project data and parameters from image processing > 2_densification: contains 3d mesh, point cloud (.las) and project data from point cloud generation > 3_dsm_ortho: contains digital surface model (.tif), orthomosaic (.tif) and Pix4D project data > 4_index: contains individual band data (.tif) and multispectral indices (e.g., NDVI) (.tif) > temp: contains additional products such as digital terrain models (DTMs) (.tif) METHODS All NIR images for 2017 surveys were captured with an eBee Plus drone and a Canon PowerShot S110 camera. The processed products for each region (Cucumella and Vulci North) were produced by consolidating images from respective sites in 2017 (Cucumella products were produced from images captured on July 22nd (the only flight of that day) and July 25th (the first flight of that day); Vulci North products were produced from images captured on July 24th (the only flight of that day) and July 25th (the 2nd and 3rd flights of that day). Pix4D (version 4.6.4) was used to create products both areas. Image processing settings and other details can be found in the Pix4D quality report. ------------------------------------------------------- This readme file was created on 12/20/22 by Everette Newton and Cristiana Falvo.
